For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Luke 12:2
Hello, all!
As we are in the throes of Summer, lots of time is spent inside in our household – time for crafting! I do go outside to sit in the early morning breezes and one morning I saw the partial moon, very faintly as if hidden in the hazy sky. It is still amazing to see and makes me grateful to God for all the seasons, heat and all!
This verse in Luke points out hypocrisy. Jesus was speaking to His disciples regarding the Pharisees – a studious Jewish legalistic group of men who believed themselves to be holy and separated themselves from the “common” man. As Jesus continues, He speaks on the tendency of us all to falter from time to time. I personally want to strive to please the Lord and sometimes fall into the trap of saying something (even in my mind) that is not uplifting or encouraging. Saying one thing and acting like another is one form of this pretense. Doing things in secret that are not profitable for our spirit is another form of insincerity. Our human flesh gets in the way of representing our gracious Lord. God knows all and sees all - there is nothing secret in our lives. However, God made a way to rectify our offensive deeds. Forgiveness - and He provides it through Jesus; we can be thankful for God’s grace towards His children in times of confession and repentance (turning away from that iniquity that makes us stumble).
May we see our brothers and sisters in the way God sees and have the graceful attitudes and obedience that His children should have. May we listen to the Holy Spirit in us that prompts us to do the right thing.
Prayer for today:
Father in heaven, please show us the grace and mercy we need to give to others and the conviction in our hearts to walk the walk of Christianity. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
