But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.
2 Thessalonians 3:13
Hello, folks!
We are still having many days of summer heat. The birds seem to be fine, but we have noticed some of the cardinals are starting their molting season and look a bit frazzled and weary, not from the heat though. This is a normal process where old feathers are dropped and new feathers come in. The new feathers are a survival mechanism and replacing the old worn feathers helps keep them warm for the winter as well as aiding their flying skills.
This verse in second Thessalonians is an encouragement to believers to not get irritated with some people that have been sluggish or lazy. The believers wanted to end their charity to those in need altogether. The apostle Paul reminds them that there are some truly needy people and to continue doing good work. For me, I think that I need to trust that the Lord will sort out everything in the end and that a giving heart will be a blessed heart.
This week, may you find occasions to open your heart and offer your time, talent or treasures to honor God and give Him the glory.
Prayer for today:
Our Father in heaven, we are so thankful for the blessings we enjoy every day and pray that You would point out to us a way to give to others even if we do not have the treasures but can find other ways to offer a blessing from You. May we be aware of the needs and give all the glory to You. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
