O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.

Psalm 63:1

Good morning, Friends!

Well, it has been a long, hot and dry summer for us (5 Sundays in August!), but we know God is in control and the reasons for this spell may not be known in the moment, but it is an opportunity to direct our minds to finding joy in the Lord.

This pretty deer was walking through our lower meadow one day. The area is dry and the wild grasses are brittle from the heat. The deer in our region look for green foliage (and they do find it across the street at our neighbor’s place as he waters his grass). I thought of this bible verse as I looked at my photo, and it is apropos for the season.

This Psalm by David talks about having joy in the fellowship of God. David wrote this while he was dwelling in a wilderness (like a desert) situation and his beautiful words give us strength to withstand whatever we ourselves go through. God is with us and when we praise Him, our countenance changes and we can value our placement into the Kingdom of the Lord. The joy of knowing that God has everything under His power is a blessing and I just need to remember to go to Him when feeling parched from this world’s shenanigans.

May your week have joy in the Lord and more time with Him in His word.

Prayer for today:

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us You are the Mighty Creator and no matter what goes on here, we are trusting You in all things. Give us the comfort of Your Word as we seek those bible verses to praise You and give us Your strength. In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
