Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.

Ecclesiastes 4:9

Good morning, friends!

I hope everyone is staying cool; this has been a very hot summer, so far, in Texas. I have been taking the opportunity on the cooler mornings to sit outside and enjoy the early breezes. One morning I saw these two hummingbirds sitting on a bare branch acting like friends while waiting to sip from our hummingbird feeder. It made me think of the verse that I paired with today’s photograph.

This verse and section of Ecclesiastes is about companionship and friends. We tend to have empathy and care when one of our friends is going through a difficult season. God wired His kids to pay attention. Thank God for good friends and especially those who pray for us and with us. It is a reciprocal alliance and when we are strong, we can help others in return for the kindness we have appreciated. The reward is feeling good for pleasing God and most importantly giving glory to the Lord for His provision.

May you have the opportunity this week to lift up a good friend and praise God for His relief and comfort.

Prayer for today:

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for friends and companions that know You and are willing to give encouragement, prayers and support when we go through challenging times in life. We ask You to give us strength and open our eyes to occasions where we can be that one to give relief and friendship to others. In the name of Jesus, our Lord, we pray. Amen.

Gaby
