Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up
my soul to You.
Psalm 143:8
I
usually rise very early in the mornings; my body just won’t adjust to being
retired – even after 9 years of retirement. Anyway, I have come to enjoy the
quietness and stillness during these hours and one morning as dawn was
approaching, I looked out our window, and I noticed that the sky seemed to be
on fire where the sun was rising. I had to photograph it as I praised God for
the beauty of it all.
I
chose this bible verse from the Psalms; it is one of many Psalms of David and
this particular one finds David reaching out to God for guidance. He pleads for
relief as he affirms his trust in the Lord. In his acknowledging that he is not
a perfect man, he also testifies that God is sovereign and powerful and can
help him get past whatever situation he is in at this moment in time.
It
helps me to see that someone as strong as David was not afraid to go before the
Lord and inform God of his fears and worries (though he knew God sees
everything). I hope that I can remember not to be fearful of expressing my own
fears and worries to God. He wants us to come to Him and talk to Him about
anything. I need to remember that more often in prayer time.
May
your year of 2026 be filled with seeking the Lord in everything and savoring
God’s lovingkindness.
