Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. Psalm 16:9
The days have been chilly and blustery lately in north Texas. On a recent walk, as the sky was filling with dark clouds, the sun peeked out to shine brightly and so I photographed this scene, a beautiful element of God’s creative nature. I immediately thought of hope and the light shining that hope in our hearts when we come to know Christ Jesus, as our Savior.
Many of the Psalms are a comfort for us to read and think upon. The glory spoken of in this verse is referring to how we are created in the image of God. We have been given the ability to talk and have intellect to discern life. We, (as Christians and children of God), have also been given the gift of hope. Our final destination is with the Lord in heaven and whatever goes on in this life on earth, we can rest in the fact that God’s love will sustain us.
I know that life can be difficult, and we wonder sometimes how we can get through episodes of stressful times. These moments need to send us to the Word of God and prayer. It’s hard to do but as I often find comfort in the Psalms, I would point you to them also. As many of you know already, the devotions in the book of Psalms can soothe our hearts and lead us to the joy of grace and mercy.
May your week be filled with rest and gladness in the Lord.
