For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  Matthew 6:21

Good morning, friends!

I saw this squirrel in one of the big oak trees on our property, it was going from branch to branch gathering acorns that were still on the tree. It stopped to put one in its mouth and seemed like it was holding the acorns as treasure in its paws. I read that squirrels can store food in their cheeks and this one seemed to be doing just that.

I pretty much thought of this bible verse for this photograph. It is a verse I learned long ago and think about many times. It precedes verses about trusting in God to provide for His children. Our focus on life is not to store up earthly treasures and make wealth the center of our existence. Of course, it is prudent to work and save for the future but not to make the pursuit of money as our god. Our Lord knows our needs and as the Apostle Paul stated, he learned to be content with little or much. An added blessing is to give to those in need as the Lord leads you.

My aim is to be happy with God’s provisions that sustain me - and curb any greediness that arise in my flesh from time to time. I pray to share in ways that will bless others and that my heart will treasure my bible more than “things” and that the word of God will be stored in my mind for any trials or temptations that can (and will) arise in life on this earth.

May your week be filled with the treasures of faith in God as He provides your real needs.
