And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. 1 John 1:4

Good morning, friends!

I had a wonderful visit with my two sisters last week and though it was a short time, it was full of joy and happiness to be together. We had some days to drive around and see the area and one day we drove around the lake near us. I was hoping to see some bluebonnet flowers and we did! It is a little early for butterflies, but this Gulf Fritillary butterfly was flying around us and landed on a bluebonnet which made the scene more special.

I chose this verse from the book of 1 John for this photograph. The verse reiterates the promise of fellowship of the believer. The gospel (good news of Christ Jesus and what He did for us) is the glue that holds us in His hands forever. The bible tells us of His love and mercy toward His people. Our joy is knowing our salvation (confessing our sinful life to God, asking Him to forgive us and taking Jesus into our heart as Lord of our life) is sealed and cannot be broken. Joy is not a happy feeling (although we have instances of that), joy is the confidence of knowing God loves us and our home is with Him some day in the future.

May your week be full of joy, giving others the reason of your hope and trusting God’s promises.

Prayer for today:

Heavenly Father, we give You praise and thanks for loving us in a way that we could not fathom. May You be glorified in our lives this week and please give us moments to treasure as we pray to You each day for fullness of joy as You promised us. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
